Passo Duron – Cason di Lanza
IN ATTILA’S FOOTSTEPS
To give this route any other name would be an affront, when we consider that we’ll be cycling among the green pine forests in the very place where Atilla crossed the Alps to invade the Italian peninsula.
Obviously, along the way we’ll take in two ascents featured in the Giro d’Italia.
The first of these is Passo Duron, the setting for a stage in the 2018 Giro d’Italia. We’ll tackle it from the other side and – exclusively for Silent Alps BikExperience cyclists – we’ll venture into the heart of villages the race passed by, turning this route into an extraordinary and intimate experience in search of the origins of this incredible land.
We’ll take the second climb just as the pink caravan of cyclists did in 2013, when the stage was won by Rigoberto Uran on the Montasio plateau and over Passo Cason di Lanza, just like Attila crossing the Julian Alps in 452 AD!
That’s the stage set for this wonderful route.
