Passo del Pura – Casera Razzo
BEER, PROSCIUTTO AND CLOCKS
If not the most beautiful, this is definitely one of the most fascinating and typical routes from Silent Alps Bike Experience.
It will take us through two of the most characteristic villages of the Carnic Alps and – we might say – Italy for mountain lovers: Sauris and Pesariis.
But we should take a little time to mention some of the things you’ll see along the way: magnificent cycleways, gorges deep in the mountains, tunnels (with cobbled surfaces) carved by hand out of the living rock in the heart of the mountains, an emerald green lake set among the peaks, formed by one of Italy’s highest dams (135 m), villages of traditional houses – and not made to look that way for tourists – a craft brewery at an altitude of 1500 m, renowned prosciutto factories that still use production methods over 200 years old, a bench to enjoy the complete silence of the majestic Alps, the valley of time, with Pesariis (the village of clocks) at its head!
Oh, I almost forgot! You’ll see all these while riding a route where the Giro d’Italia has passed on more than one occasion, and therefore on an Hors Catégorie course with perfect asphalt and, for most of the way, no traffic at all!
If this isn’t a world heritage road cycling area, help us find another similar one!
